A fall update from the Studio

by

As cooler temperatures prevail and the leaves begin falling, I wanted to provide an update on a few "behind-the-scenes" happenings here at the studio.

Server Upgrades

We've recently completed a hardware upgrade to our server clusters that brings newer, faster Intel Xeon and AMD Epyc processors into our hosting stack along with faster storage arrays to provide higher performance in everything from static web hosting to the latest dynamic web applications.

Migration from Ubuntu to Debian

Our hosting engineers have been planning a long-term migration from our previous technology platform from linux server images based on Ubuntu LTS 22.04 to a Debian-based series of system images that include a combination of ultra-stable LTS infrastructure services combined with the latest dynamic web development platforms.

Shifting from a Wordpress-focused Platform

Recently, the open source content management system Wordpress has been making headlines due to a fight between the project founder and one of the larger commercial providers of Wordpress services.  As many of our client solutions have included Wordpress-based sites, we've begun the process of creating new toolsets to help customers migrate to other open source content management tools if they are concerned about the fallout from this public fight with the project.

Opening up new Applications

Finally, our team has found new ways support clients with open source at the heart of our offered projects.  Our goal, as providers, is always to put our customers first with open, portable solutions that have independence from any vendors or platforms (including our own).  As developers, we feel this is the best way to provide the right kind of service in each and every project.

Hopefully, this brief update provides a window into where our team is moving as the weather cools and winter is on the horizon - and stay tuned for more announcements as the holidays approach and we prepare for the busiest e-commerce season.
